[158] Covid-19 related deaths vs GGC deaths
In reality there are relatively few Covid-19 related deaths in the world. Take a few examples: In the USA (May 2020) there are some 100.000 deaths (in six months time) caused by a combination of high age, bad immune system, and genetic diseases. Compare this number with deaths by tobacco smoking in the US (some 500.000 per year). Totally, in the USA, probably as much as 2.640.000 per year are caused by genetic diseases since death by old age is extremely rare. In the tiny Norwegian population (5.3 million) we do have ca.230 corona related deaths (May 2020) In the much larger population of Argentina we had (May 2020) some 400 deaths. In the terrible refugee camps of he world the death toll is close to zero. Comparing the seasonal influenza with the corona epidemic we find that the corona epidemic is only killig a fraction. Are we going to shut down our societies the coming January too? Is the cure more damaging than the illness?
